The Bugaboo Lodge
So, Ciona Thompson has recieved a once in a life time chance to go to the Bugaboo Lodge up in the Purcell Mountains
"This season I have been the first David Thompson Secondary student to be invited to intern and to take part in a ski guild practicum with the CMH Bugaboo Lodge; besides skiing powder and being surrounded by breath taking views, I will be learning about the tourism industry, avalanche safety, working with people and most of all, improving my skiing. The Bugaboo Lodge is located in the pristine Purcell Mountains and provides a variety of skiing terrain with astounding views of the world -renowned mountains (where a number of ski movies have been made). CMH or Canadian Mountain Holidays is a nationwide company which offers a once in a life time experience and brings people to the heart of the mountains. I am very excited to be working with such an amazing company, and I feel blessed that I have been presented with such an opportunity to experience something I otherwise wouldn’t have been able to do. This opportunity came to me from a scholarship I received and took part in over this past summer."

We debated 2 different teams from Kelowna, and 1 team from Gonzaga Prep (America)."

Some updates
Stuff has been happening and I haven'tsaid anything about it yet so:
First we have a newspaper clipping for Julia Halwa who helped chair our schools pink day and the breakfeast club
Here's another newspaper clipping about the breakfast club, I realize it isn't exactly readable, but I will post a quick rundown soon.
Next I have a write up from Kate Godlien who got the entire school in mad dash to raise money for a charity called "Change for Change"
"Change for Change was a blitz initiative where we were raising money to help provide food, medicine and general aid for the refugees of Somalia. Through fundraising at the Windermere Fall Fair, going class to class to explain the situation and receiving generous donations during the lunch hours we were able to contribute $1600. This was an overwhelming success for an eight day fundraising effort. "
More updates to come!

Dearest Vulnerable Children Society supporter;
I’m sending you this newsletter because you have shown interest and support for the great work our VCS volunteers or our partner Faya Orphanage does. Maybe you have transported donations to Ethiopia, made a gift in someone’s name, held a fundraiser, or help out with a monthly donation. In all cases: We’d like to say a huge and hearty THANKS! And share with you all the good news from our first seven months in operation.
